700 participants expected at this Thursday’s Accountants' graduation

The Malta Institute of Accountants (MIA) will be holding its fifth annual graduation ceremony this coming Thursday, 15th October 2015, at the Attard Parish Hall. Around 700 are expected to attend the event, which will bring together 115 ACCA graduates and 96 University of Malta graduates; President Emeritus Dr George Abela will be the guest of honour for the evening.

“The Institute is proud to see this continued expansion of its membership and welcomes these new Accountancy graduates in its fold; as Malta’s economy keeps expanding, the Accountancy Profession assumes ever more central role in our economy and the MIA retains a seminal role as a the Profession’s representative body”, said the incoming MIA President, Franco Azzopardi, who will also be handing out the certificates during the evening.

Founded in 1942, the Malta Institute of Accountants (or the ‘Institute’ as it also known) provides guidance, technical support and continuing professional education. With more than 2,500 members already within its ranks, MIA is one of the fastest growing professional bodies in Malta, helping not only to promote a proper understanding of the role and the value of the Accountancy Profession to the Maltese public and the local business community, but also providing the Government with its input with respect to legislature related to finance and accounting.

More information as well as pictures from the ceremony will be published after the event.
