Weekly Update Regulatory news for FEE Members
 
Statutory Audit: The European Parliament (EP) Legal Affairs (JURI) Committee has released its Draft Report on the European Commission’s (EC) Proposed Regulation on Statutory Audit, view, and on the EC Proposed Directive on Statutory Audit. View The next meeting of the EP JURI Committee is scheduled for 17 and 18 September 2012. Both draft reports will be discussed in the meeting.
 
Draft of forthcoming IFRS on general hedge accounting: A draft of the forthcoming general hedge accounting requirements that will be added to IFRS 9 Financial Instruments is available on the IFRS Foundation website. View The draft will remain on the website until early December 2012 after which time the IASB intends to proceed to finalise the draft document.
 
Integrated Reporting: The International Integrated Reporting Council (IIRC) has issued responses to questions frequently asked, such as: What type of decision-makers can benefit from Integrated Reporting? Why is the focus of Integrated Reporting primarily on investors? View
 
New IFAC Publication Provides Support for Professional Accountants Improving Internal Control: The Professional Accountants in Business (PAIB) Committee of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) has issued new International Good Practice Guidance (IGPG), Evaluating and Improving Internal Control in Organizations, view, highlighting areas where the practical application of existing internal control standards and frameworks often fails in many organisations. Transfer Pricing: The OECD has announced that the planned public consultation meeting on the three transfer pricing discussion drafts that were released in June 2012 will be held at the OECD Conference Centre in Paris on 12–14 November 2012. View The matters discussed at the public consultation meeting will include the discussion draft on transfer pricing aspects of intangibles, view, the discussion draft on transfer pricing safe harbours, view, and the request for comments on timing issues related to transfer pricing. Single Market: As part of the 20th anniversary of the European Single Market, a Single Market Week will be organised from 15 to 20 October 2012 with events taking place in cities across the 27 Member States of the European Union. View In advance of the Single Market Week, early in October, the European Commission will adopt a package of measures to strengthen and deepen the single market, called “Single Market Act 2”.

2nd UEAPME European SME Convention on 1 October 2012: With the support of the European Commission, UEAPME will organise its 2nd “European SME Convention” in Brussels on 1 October 2012. The aim is to take stock of the financial proposals of the European Commission for the 2014-2020 programming period on cohesion policy, on the “Horizon 2020” programme for R&D and innovation and on the “COSME” programme for the competitiveness of SMEs. 5th International Conference on Corporate Social Responsibility, 4 – 6 October 2012, Berlin: The Conference will focus on the future of CSR by exploring whether more collaboration between relevant global entities can bring more consistency across different institutions. About 100 international representatives from science, business, politics and governmental as well as non-governmental organisations will gather in Berlin to discuss the role and impact of CSR on corporate, manager and stakeholder behaviour.
