FEE comments on European Commission consultation on "Gender Imbalance in Corporate Boards in the EU:  FEE supports diversity in all company positions based on the overall principle of “the best person for the job”. Quotas for board members would not be compatible with this overall principle. Companies should be encouraged to develop a diversity policy for senior management positions. View

 

European Commission sets out the next steps for stability, growth and jobs:  The European Commission has adopted a package of recommendations for budgetary measures and economic reforms to enhance financial stability, boost growth and create employment across the EU. The country-specific recommendations cover a wide range of issues including public finances and structural reforms in areas such as taxation. View

 

EESC opinion on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR):  The EESC adopted an opinion on the European Commission’s strategy for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) for the period 2011-2014. View The EESC opinion supports the voluntary nature of CSR, but criticises the lack of plans to encourage and help enterprises to take responsibility for their impact on society. View

 

European Commission publishes study on VAT recapitulative statements:  The study analyses the consequences for business arising from a reduced time frame for submitting recapitulative statements on intra-Community supplies of goods and services. View

Networking for better CSR advice to SMEs:  The EC will host a Networking Event for people who advise SMEs on CSR on the 12-13 June 2012 in Berlin. This international event, held in English, will bring together about 100 European experts and practitioners in the field, to actively engage in peer-to-peer learning and share best practices across Europe. OECD Forum on Tax and Crime, 14 – 15 June 2012, Rome:  This Forum brings together senior policy makers from different government agencies including the tax, anti-money laundering and anti-corruption communities, as well as private sector representatives, NGOs and other interested stakeholders. Participants will examine best practice approaches to closer inter-agency co-operation at the domestic level and explore how to improve international cooperation. View
